2. Tomato sauce and tomato soup are often sold in tin cans.
The label on the can usually states to pour any unused portion out
of the can into another storage container. I have observed that an
open can of tomato sauce will “rust” or oxidize?
3. Does tin “rust” (oxidize) when it is exposed to acids? Write
a chemical equation that represents this reaction.
4. Explain why tin cans are used to store acidic foods like
tomato sauce.
