It is desired to determine by flame atomic absorption
spectrometry the content of nickel (Ni) in a sediment sample A
sample of 1.0565 g of sediment is taken, digested with HNO3 and
HCl, the digestate is transferred to a 100 mL flask and diluted to
Mark. An aliquot of 5,000 µL of the digested sample is transferred
to a volumetric flask of 25 mL and diluted to the mark. This
diluted solution gave an absorbance of 0.582. Later to generate the
calibration curve that resulted in the following regression
equation: y = 5.4580 x (in mg/L of Ni) + 0.0015. Calculate the Ni
concentration (in ppm) in the original sample.
