Dry hydrogen chloride gas was bubbled
through 100.00 mL of deionized water present in a 250.00 mL
volumetric flask. The weight of the volumetric flask together
with water in it was 200.702g before and 201.619g after bubbling
the gas.
1a) What is the percent
concentration (w/v) of the of the hydrochloric acid solution in the
volumetric flask?
1b) What is the
molarity of the hydrochloric acid solution?
1c) The pH of the
hydrochloric acid solution was measured at 25o C using a
very accurate pH meter. The value of the pH recorded was
1.012. What is the activity coefficient of the
H+ is this solution?
1d) The hydrochloric acid
solution made in the above way was transferred quantitatively to a
500.00-mL volumetric flask containing 6.607 g of ammonium sulfate,
and water was added up to the mark. What the total
ionic strength of the new solution?
1e) Calculate pH of the of the new
solution.
