The cyclotron (Figure 1)is a device used to accelerate elementary particles such as protons to high speeds. Particles starting at point A with some initial velocity travel in circular orbits in the magnetic field B. The particles are accelerated to higher speeds each time they pass through the gap between the metal "dees," where there is an electric field E. (There is no electric field inside the hollow metal dees.) The electric field changes direction each half-cycle, owing to an ac voltage V = Vo sin 2π ft, so that the particles are increased in speed at each passage through the gap. Figure 1 of 1 "Dees" B Gap Part A Determine the frequency f of the voltage in terms of the magnetic field B, the charge on the particles q, and their mass m. OF IVE ΑΣΦ ? Request Answer Part B Show that the kinetic energy of the particles increases by 2qVo each revolution, assuming that the gap is small. Essay answers are limited to about 500 words (3800 characters maximum, including spaces). 3800 Character(s) remaining Submit Request Answer Part C If the radius of the cyclotron is 1.9 m and the magnetic field strength is 0.20 T, what will be the maximum kinetic energy of accelerated protons in MeV? Express your answer using two significant figures. IVD| ΑΣΦ ? f = Submit
