Question 1 (20 Points) A flat disk pulley has a mass of 25.0 kg and a radius of 0.1 m. A cable is wrapped around the pulley. A box with a mass of 100.0 kg is attached to one end of this cable and vertically lowered as shown on the left. Do not neglect friction between the cable and the pulley. Neglect the mass of the cable. a) Determine the acceleration of the box after the system has been released from rest. b) How long will it take the box to reach the ground located 10.0 m below? c) If the pulley system is modified so that the mass is removed and the pulley is allowed to fall as shown on the right, show that the tension in the cable is one-third the weight of the pulley.
