An airflow with a temperature of 45 °C moves at a speed of 3 m/s
around a copper wire with a diameter of 2.5 mm. An electric current
is passed through the wire to heat it until its temperature is
uniform Ti = 82 °C. The current is then turned off, and the wire is
observed to cool to 57°C in 10 seconds.
a) What regime is the fluid in?
b) Calculate the Nusselt number using Churchill's equation.
c) Calculate the convective coefficient of the air.
d) How much heat does the wire lose for each meter of length?
20
e) What would be the percentage error in the calculation of the
heat if the Nusselt number were obtained by means of the simplified
equation?
f) diagram
g) Hypothesis of solution
