We need to conduct an analysis of phase equilibrium of the system by answering the following questions. a) (20 points) Given that the excess Gibbs energy for the ethanol(1)/water(2) system at 80 degC is well represented by (A2111 + 12.X2)X112 GE RT and activity coefficents at infinite dilutions (from two-parameter Margules equations) are 71 = 1.732 & y = 1.964 determine the activity coefficients Y1 & Y2 given that the liquid phase contains 60 mo percent ethanol and 40 mole percent water. b) (5 points) What is the value of GE? c) (10 points) Given that vapor pressure are given by 3795.17 In Psat = 16.8958 In Pigat t + 230.918 3885.70 t + 230.170 = 16.3872 determine psat for ethanol(1) and water(2) with temperature in degC.
