3. Selecting the equipment to be used for excavating the basement. 4. Determine the hourly rate for the equipment you select to perform the excavation. 5. 6. Two sizes of dump trucks are available for hauling the excavated material: A. 18 Icy tri-axle dump trucks with a fully operated rate of $100.00 per hour. B. 24 Icy tractor-trailer dump trucks with a fully operated rate of $125.00 per hour. The 18 Icy trucks have an average speed of 30 mph loaded and 45 mph empty. The 24 Icy trucks have an average speed of 25 mph loaded and 40 mph empty. Assume the dump time is 5 minutes for both truck sizes. Details about the excavation are: 1. The average elevation of the existing ground at the site is 455. 2. The elevation of the bottom of the excavation is 402. 3. The area of the excavation is 39,188 square feet. 4. The excavated material will be hauled to a disposal area that is 12 miles from the project location. 5. The parking garage is to be excavated in 5-foot increments and then the vertical walls of the excavation will be supported by soil nailing. Therefore, trucks cannot be "ramped" in and out of the excavation.
