3. (a) Describe the main artificial groundwater recharge methods. [3 Marks] (b) Explain the main assumptions in the analysis of pumping tests to determine the hydraulic conductivity of an unconfined aquifer. [5 Marks) (c) A confined aquifer has a thickness of 15 m. A well fully penetrating this aquifer was pumped at a rate of 700 m/day. When steady state conditions were reached, the drawdowns at observation wells located at radial distances 70m and 480m from the pumped well were 12m and 6m respectively. If the piczometric surface was initially 70m above the impervious base of the aquifer: (i) Illustrate the aquifer system using a sketch [3 Marks] (ii) Determine the aquifer transmissivity and conductivity, the drawdown at distance of 200m from the well and the radius of influence.
