Question 5 [25 Marks) The rigid-jointed frame shown in Figure Q5 is fixed at A and D. It is subject to a horizontal point load as shown in Figure Q5. There are no settlements at the supports and all members are axially inextensible. The flexural rigidity of the members are shown in Figure 25. Using the slope deflection method and considering as unknowns the rotation at node B, the rotation at node and the horizontal translation of node C: a) write three equilibrium equations for the three unknowns in terms of end member moments (DO NOT SOLVE THEM); [6 Marks) b) write the slope deflection equations for all three structural members; and [12 Marks] c) given that the rotation at node C is 4,88/El (clockwise), the rotation at node B is 2.76/E! (anti-clockwise) and the horizontal translation of node B is 14.99/El (left to right direction:-)), draw the bending moment diagram indicating all local maximum values.
