3. A direct pumped variable flow chilled water system serving 3 AHU's in a building is shown in the flow schematic below: BYPASS CONTROL VALVE (TYP) AHU-3 75 AHJ2 -AHJ-1 CHILLER PUMP AHU-3 and the system bypass are located 7 ft above the main mechanical room housing the chiller and pump. Chiller is selected for 500 gpm, AT = 10, 20 ft of head evaporator pressure drop, rated for 50% minimum flow. Each AHU is selected for AT 12, 150 gpm, 10 ft heat of pressure drop. The control valves are selected for a maximum s psi pressure drop at the design flow rate. Determine for proper system operation the minimum required pressure differential (psi) between the chilled water supply and return headers measures at the chilled water bypass. Ans. 10 psi
