(a) (12 marks) Determine the Nyquist sampling rates and bandwidths of the following signals: (i) (4 marks) 0.01 sinc(100ft) (ii) (4 marks) sinc(100nt) + 3 sinc(60#t) (iii) (4 marks) sinc(50nt)sinc(100nt) (b) (8 marks) A TV signal has a bandwidth of 3.5 MHz. This signal is sampled, quantized, and binary-coded to obtain a pulse code modulated (PCM) signal. (i) (3 marks) Determine the sample rate if the signal is be sampled at a rate 30% above the Nyquist rate. (ii) (3 marks) If the samples are quantized into 3000 levels, what number of binary pulses is required to encode each sample? (iii) (2 marks) Determine the binary pulse rate (bits/s) of the binary coded signal.
