At the end of this module, the
student should be able to:
A coil around a wooden
or glass core, or some other nonmagnetic substance for a core, will
attract ferromagnetic materials just like an ordinary magnet when
an electric current is made to pass through it. If an iron nail is
used as the core, the strength of the electromagnet can be
increased.
ELECTROMAGNET
To study an electromagnet’s
behavior

1m Magnet wire
(copper

60 pcs pins or thumbtacks 1 pc 3 inches nail
1.Wine ten turns of magnet wire around the nail as shown in
figure 34.1
