Tasks:
Review the part of Case Study pertaining to the payment system
and incorporate the payment system that would best work for Ike’s
Motors into your website design. Additionally implement any other
payment systems in the Ike’s Motors website aside the ones proposed
by Ike.
IKE’S MOTORS ( Cont’d) Ike hired the services of Elshadai I.T
solutions to come up with a better website and to continue their
payment and security systems for the company. After the systems
were implemented, Customers were able to buy and ship from Ike’s
Motors to wherever in Ghana. As part of advertisement strategies
Ike’s Motors aligned with all social media platforms to reach out
to a wider range of customers. Ike’s Motors also attached a credit
card payment method to their websites to handle payments of their
products which would help the company to keep track of customer
payments and personal information. The IT consultant warned Ike
about frauds that comes in the form of credit card charge backs.
Customers using credit cards and other online forms of payments
(that access credits cards and banks accounts) can request that
charges be removed. The Fair Credit Billing Act (FCBA) allows
consumers to dispute purchases. A customer can request that a
charge be removed for two reasons: The card is stolen or otherwise
used without legal cardholders’ permission The customer doesn’t
believe that you fulfilled your obligation in delivering the
product. (You either didn’t deliver or delivered a different Used
Car as promised). Mistakenly delivering an incorrect product isn’t
a true case of fraud, but it does lead to charge backs.it becomes
fraud if you indeed send the correct Car but the customer insists
that if it’s not shipped. Competitors in the Car sales and Rental
business began to look for hackers to slow down the rate at which
orders were flooding at Ike’s Motors website, consequently leading
to denial of service (DOS) attacks on the website. Which prevented
the customers who ordered furniture to be delayed in getting
responses for their ordered goods. Secondly customers began losing
their money on the purchases due to masquerading attacks that was
blended in Ike’s Motor’s e-commerce website which redirected
payments to the hackers created site to deny customers of
purchases. The customers were also redirected to similar sites that
were impersonating (Mirror Websites) Ike’s Motors website which
took their personal information and credentials. As a result, a lot
of these loyal customers lost their trust in the E-commerce website
they have trusted for years which resulted in Ike’s Motors losing
about 45% of their online presence and customer orders. These
incidents have put Ike’s Motors into a big frustration and need
urgent security measures to cater for their websites as many of
their customers are opting out of their websites and discrediting
the sites to other potential customers.
