Cryptography is one of the main branches of security that converts information from a normal form (plain text) to unreadable (cipher text) by using standard encryption and decryption algorithms with aim to achieve message security. Cryptography ensure message confidentiality, integrity, authentication, non- repudiation, and other security services while messages are in transmission, processing and in storage. In the current literature several cryptographic algorithms are developed for achieving message security based on symmetric key encryption and asymmetric key encryption. In symmetric key encryption only one key is used to encrypt (lock) the message called a private key while in the asymmetric key encryption uses a pair of key, one key can be used for the encrypting the message while another key can be used for decrypting (unlock) the message. In this regard, provide a detailed report of the following aspect of the cryptographic algorithms.
a) Critically examine how symmetric and asymmetric cryptographic algorithms work
b) Provide numerical examples for RSA and Diffie-Hellman algorithms
