shipped by foreign suppliers, a

the figure was inflated.
While Toyota says that 60 percent of the components it uses in
the United States are locally
produced, only 1 or 2 percent of the parts it uses in Japan --
where Toyota does most of its
manufacturing -- are supplied from abroad.
