13. A physician orders Retrovir (zidovudine) 2 mg/kg/dose IVPB for a 165-lb patient. The dose is to be placed in 100 mL D5W and infused over 1 hour with a drop factor of 15 gtt/mL q4h x 24 hours. The 20-ml single-use vial of Retrovir for IV infusion 10 mg/mL must be further diluted in 5% dextrose injection to no greater than 4 mg/mL before being infused. How many mL of the reconstituted medication should be added to the D5W per dose? What is the infusion rate in milliliters per minute?
