I need to come up with any reaction I want with any starting material. PLEASE HELP!!!!! For full points include at least five Organic 1/11 reactions. You may provide key intermediates to bridge steps involving reactions we haven't seen. Once you have decided on your synthesis: The Synthesis Draw the starting material, each intermediate, and the final product in the boxes provided. For each intermediate, indicate if it is required or if it will be provided in the question. You can provide intermediates that you don't know the reactions for including those which require multiple steps. So, for a 15 step synthesis, you might do steps 1-3 then skip to the product of step 13 and do 14 and 15. Note: Each required intermediate should be the starting material or product for a reaction that we have seen in Organic I and II. Provide the simplest version of the reagents possible Note: Many syntheses have specific temperatures or solvents that optimize the reaction you should just include the reagents as you would see in the textbook. A Selected Mechanism Choose one step in your synthesis and provide a mechanism for this reaction. Show all bonds and electron pairs involved in the mechanism, along with appropriate formal charges and curved arrows to show the flow of electrons in the reaction. . The Commentary For each reaction give the type of e.g. Claisen Condensation if it is an Organic 1/11 reaction Write a short statement explaining what is happening in the reaction-what is going where. Note: Some of the reactions you may not have seen before, although you may see similarities. For example, the Henry Reaction is very similar to an aldol condensation but with deprotonation of the carbon alpha to a nitro-group. If you see this, then write about it, and explain the similarities. For other reactions try to explain what you think is happening in terms of electrophile/nucleophiles etc.
