Introduction In this laboratory, you have access to a variety of metal washers, felt, nylon bolts, nylon wing nuts, and a variety of electrolyte solutions. Your task is to design the best possible battery from the materials available, test it, and use that testing to show you have optimized the system. Your template allows for approximately 10 cells per nylon rod. You are encouraged to test your hypotheses to see if the design can be further improved. . . . . . O Supplies (10) 1" x 1.25" x 0.125" zinc washers (10) 1" x 1.25" x 0.125" copper washers (10) 1" x 1.25" x 0.125" brass washers (10) 1" x 1.25" x 0.125" stainless steel washers (10) 1" x 1.25" x 0.125" aluminum washers (1) 8.5" x 11" sheet of felt . O Prior to this lab (For the Prelab Assignment) 1. Use the list of possible materials to predict and draw the best battery allowed on a single section of nylon bolt. Use digital media to do your drawing and labeling. Discuss your classification of "best" and describe your methods of measurement. Include your choice of electrolyte and arrangement of salt bridges. Predict the potentials generated across individual cells and your entire battery. 2. Predict and draw the cell with the smallest, non-zero, consistent voltage from the available materials. 3. Determine health concerns and proper protective equipment for this laboratory. Pay attention to the presence of electrolyte in this experiment. Detail plausible health risks of the electrolyte solutions and detail how you plan to use PPE to avoid these risks. O
