Johnny has placed two speakers S1 and
S2 3.20m apart on flat ground. The speakers are
vibrating in phase in time producing sound with the same frequency
f=400Hz. Each speaker produces a sound output power of 30.0W. Rick
is at point R listening to the sound.
a.) Find the pressure amplitude of the wave arriving at Rick’s
position, point R, from speaker 1.
b.) Find the pressure amplitude of the wave arriving at point R
from speaker 2.
c.) What is the difference in phase in degrees of the waves
arriving at point R?
d.) Find the pressure amplitude of the net wave at point R.
e.) Find the loudness in dB of the net wave arriving at point
R.
f.) What are the two smallest charges in phase in time for
source S1 that will make the waves arrive in phase at R.
Give answer in degrees. Explain reasoning.
