On each of the 4 earth diagrams label the following for each
season:
1. Equator: Mark the equator using a solid line and write
“Equator”. Note that the Equator, Tropics, Arctic & Antarctic
Circles are always perpendicular to the north and south poles.
2. Tropics: Use a dashed line to show where the “Tropic of
Cancer” and “Tropic of Capricorn” are located and label these line
of latitude.
3. 66.5∘ ∘ N & S: Use a solid line to show where the “Arctic
Circle” and “Antarctic Circle” are located and label these lines of
latitude.
4. Circle of illumination: Draw a line dividing earth into day
and night. Shade the night side. Note that the Circle of
Illumination is always perpendicular to the vertical rays, where
the subsolar point is found.
5. Subsolar point: Mark the subsolar point using an asterisk
with a circle around it (*)
