Show your calculations. What number of CC and GG flies would be expected in the mixed population (total number of homozygous flies)? It was expected that the Drosophila would mate randomly (return to H-WEq) after the populations mix, but this was not observed. Instead the Drosophila from each population only mated with individuals from their original population. Would there be more or less, and how many, CC and GG homozygous flies combined (total number of homozygous flies) compared to random mating? Set up a Chi Square with 1 df (homozygous and heterozygous are the two categories) for population structure (observed) vs. random mating (expected). State the null hypothesis, show your calculations and interpret the Chi-Square value.
