a Which of the following is a direct piece of evidence to prove that teosinte is the wild-ancestor to modern day corn (maize)? Teosinte is native to Mexico and Central America. There were 4-5 genetic changes between teosinte and corn. Crosses between teosinte and maize were able to produce F1 hybrids and fully fertile F2 generations. Corn and ancestral teosinte diverged evolutionarily from each other in approximately 9,200 BP. The genes that are genetically different in corn and teosinte are transcription factors.
