I need help calculating the concentrations in the
data report table.
I have to determine the rate and rate constant for two
scenarios. One is determining the order of the reaction with
respect to H2O2 with 4 beakers having varying [H2O2]. The second
part is determining the order of reaction with respect to I- with 4
beakers having varying [I-]. The volume and concentrations of added
substances to the solution are found in Table 1 and Table 2
below.
The procedure for Table 1 was to add the respective amounts of
H2SO4, Na2S2O3, KI and starch into the beakers. For each beaker,
the H20 and H2O2 were added to the solution for the timer to start.
The timer stops when the colour of the solution changes, meaning
all S2O3 have reacted with the Iodine. The time and change in
[H2O2] are then used to determine the rate of each reaction to
construct a first order linear graph off of which we should
calculate the slope. The slope will be the rate constant, but I
don't know how to calculate the concentrations.
The results are noted in the data report table posted at the
bottom with my added values in red. I need help with determining or
calculating the concentrations in the table. I think my
concentrations for change in [H2O2] are correct, but what does the
other [H2O2] refer to, I am a bit confused?
