A 50 ml sample of water was taken from a freshwater aquifer to
analyze the contamination suffered with Chloride (Cl-) from salt water. was used the
titration method with mercuric nitrate concentration 0.0258 M. The sample was
treated with acid, added an indicator and then titrated to the endpoint
consuming 3.08 ml of titrant. Determine the concentration of Cl- in ppm.
Reactions:
Hg(NO3)2 → Hg2+ + 2 NO3-
2Cl- +Hg2+ → Hg Cl2 aq
