Magnetic Surveying (10 POINTS) In lecture, we discussed how total field magnetic anomalies can have complex forms which depend on: the direction and magnitude of Earth's main magnetic field, and the magnetic susceptibility of the subsurface body. For the purpose of this problem, we consider the Earth's magnetic field has inclination of 60° in Kentucky. Use the figure the answer the following questions: 1. Sketch arrows indicating the orientation of the Earth's magnetic field on the N-S oriented cross- section of a buried, round body with a strong magnetic susceptibility. 2. Sketch a bipolar magnetic field induced in the subsurface body, parallel to the Earth's magnetic field direction. 3. If this body is composed of a diamagnetic material, sketch the resulting the shape of the total field magnetic anomaly on the profile (use a different color).
