In class we have done several examples of fully developed flow in a pipe. In this case we consider the flow of two fluids in a pipe. We are interested in analyzing the heat transfer properties using dimensional analysis. The fluids move through the pipe of diameter d=L at a velocity, V=LT-1. Both fluids have the same density, p=ML-3, vis- cosity, u=ML-11-1, and specific heat capacities, Cp=L²T-20-1. However, the fluids have different thermal conductivities, ki, k2=MLT-30-1, Let us say the overall heat transfer rate, QEML²T-3, satisfies Q = f(d, V, P,ul, c, kı, k2) C, Use the PI theorem to identify the number of non-dimensional variable necessary for this problem. Use this information to solve for all non-dimensional variables. Use u, V, d as repeating variables. If additional variables are necessary, choose the additional variables yourself.
