A car of mass mc=2 kg is
attached to a spring in one end, and to a mass
of m0=0.76 kg in
the other, as seen in the figure. When the car is released from the
initial position x0, it makes a
simple harmonic motion. The solution for the equation of motion of
this car is given as x(t)=m0g/k-A
cos(ωt), where g is the
gravitational acceleration, k is the
spring constant, A is the system
parameter, and ω is the frequency of
oscillation.
Calculate the maximum distance travelled by the car in unit of
meter, if the spring constant is k=19.1
kg/s2 and the car is released
from x0=0.0 m.
(g=9.81 m/s2)
