QUESTION 2 (PO2, CO2, C4) A processing plant operates two processing rooms requiring air of different temperatures and humidities. Room 1 requires air at 24°C and 30 % relative humidity at a rate of 120 to 150 m/min while Room 2 requires air at 30°C and 50% relative humidity at a rate of 50 - 100 m/min. The available fresh air supply has a dry bulb temperature of 33°C and a wet bulb temperature of 26°C. These two air streams are to be produced by feeding fresh air to a cooler/condenser unit, from which cool air and cold water leave at the same equilibrium temperature. Part of this cool air stream is then passed through a heater (Heater 1) to provide the supply to Room 1. The balance of the cool air is mixed with fresh air and heated (in Heater 2) to provide the supply for Room 2. By selecting one volumetric flow rate for Room 1 and another one for Room 2 (within the range given above), you are required to determine the flow rate of fresh air (m/min), the temperature to which the air must be cooled in the cooler/condenser unit (°C) and the water removal rate (kg/min). State your assumption. Heater 2 Room 2 Cooler Condenser Heater 1 Fresh Air Room 1
