A mixture containing 25 mol% acetic acid and the balance of acetone is separated in a continuous distillation column at 1 atm. A flowchart for the operation is provided below. 2 CONDENSER © Overhead product Reflux ☺ Feed 1 Boilup 6 Bottoms product REBOILER (1) Liquid 67.5°C (2) (3) & (4) (5) (6) Vapour 63°C Liquid 56.8°C Liquid 98.7°C Vapour 98.7°C 25 mol % Acetic Acid (AA) 1 mol% AA 1 mol % AA 80 mol% AA 45.6 mol % AA Acetone Thermodynamic data cal Н mol Acetic Acid T(°C) Î, 56.8 0 5723 63.0 194 6807 67.5 335 6884 98.7 1312 7420 î 0 205 354 1385 7205 7322 7403 7946 The overhead stream from the column is a vapor that passes through a condenser. The condensed liquid is divided into two equal streams: one is taken off as product (distillate) and the other (the reflux) is returned to the column. The bottom stream from the column is liquid that is partially vaporized in a reboiler. The liquid stream leaving the reboiler is taken off as the bottoms product and the vapour is returned as boilup. If 100 mol of feed enters the column, determine a) overall heat requirement for the process b) the heat required for the condenser c) the hear required for the reboiler
