THANK YOU !
The floor layout shown in Fig. 1 comprise steel beams supporting
a 5-inch thick concrete slab which provides continuous lateral
bracing to the compression flanges of the beams. The density of the
concrete is 150 lbs. /cu. ft. and the imposed live load L is 60
lbs/ft2 . Grade A990 steel (Fy = 50 ksi, E = 29,000 ksi) is
specified for members. The beam-girders connections can be
considered as simple supports. Check that a W14 x 34 section is
adequate for beam B1 to satisfy the LRFD strength and
serviceability design criteria using the following design equations
and the section properties given in Table 1.1.
