Mechanical Engineering Subject: HVAC Question 1 The section of a masonry wall is shown. U-factors for both winter and summer condition and estimate the heat transfer per square meter from the wall assuming a location in Chicago, IL. Consider 1% and 99% for design condition, assume inside condition design at 70 F. The wall consists of 4 in. of face brick (150 lb/ft?), 4 in. of cement mortar (cement plaster sand aggregate), an 8 in. sand-and-gravel concrete block (three-hole oval- cored), 1 92 - by 2 in. furring strips on block surface, and 3/4 metal lath with perlite aggregate (sand aggregate) attached to the furring strips.
