In chapter 6, we learned that the body can be modelled as a
single inverted pendulum, assume the entire weight of the body is
supported by a single leg, and compare two scenarios. In the
scenario I (weight centered), the person stands
with her weight evenly distributed over her foot, which positions
the center of pressure halfway between her heels and toes. In the
scenario II (leaning forward), she leans forward,
which moves the center of pressure toward her
toes.
Calculate muscle force for each scenario (weight centered vs.
leaning forward). Assume that she weights 500N. The weight of her
foot takes 1.5% of her body weight. Please use the following
governing equation to find FiM for each
scenario.
