A piston–cylinder device initially contains 0.5 kg of steam at
500 kPa and 450°C. Now, the steam is cooled at constant pressure
until it is at 225°C
1. Determine the volume change of the cylinder during this
process
2. Show the process on a P – v diagram with respect to
saturation lines.
A piston-cylinder device contains a mixture of liquid water and
vapour at 6 bar with 25 percent quality. The heat is added to the
mixture until the temperature is 325 ᵒC, while the pressure remains
constant. Assume the process is reversible.
1.Represent the process on a p-v diagram with respect to
saturation lines.
2. Determine the work done, and the heat
transferred.
