and recirculated water being 25°C. For this purpose, a motive steam at 8.5 bar and a temperature of
190°C is supplied to a steam jet ejector. The quality of vapour leaving the flash chamber and entering
the ejector is 0.95. The condenser pressure is 60 mm of Hg. It may be assumed that nozzle efficiency
= 0.93; entrainment efficiency = 0.65 and compression efficiency = 0.75. The quality of steam and
flash vapour at the beginning of compression is 0.918.
Find : 1. mass of motive steam required to produce unit mass of flash vapour at 10°C : 2. total motive
steam required to produce 1 tone of refrigeration per hour ; and 3. coefticient of performance of the
system.
