The power plant has two (2) diesel generating sets, generator 1 is a 3 ph, 30 MVA, 12 kV and generator 2 is a 3 ph 50 MVA, 12 kV. They both have per unit impedances of 0.1 and 0.12 respectively. The plant operates these sets in parallel to supply power to East Kingston and East Rural St. Andrew. Question 3 (83 marks) From the transmission substation located at the plant an overhead three (3) transmission line supplies a distribution substation at Harbour Head (HH) (in the vicinity of the Harbour View roundabout). The three-phase transmission line from Bournemouth Beach Park to Harbour Head is 80 km long. It has a resistance and inductance per phase per kilometre of 500 m and 2.5 ml respectively, and a capacitance 1.3 uF. If the line delivers 30 MW at 0.9 p.f. lagging: a. The HH substation provides two overhead three (3) phase distribution feeders, one feeds Bull Bay and the other feeds Palisadoes Park (PP), the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA), and Port Royal (PR). Determine the sending end voltage, current, power and efficiency using the following medium-line methods: i. the nominal T method ii. the nominal TT method b. Draw the phasor diagram using the nominal T method
