The Base Rate for the pricing of in-patient DRG claims for
Methodist Hospital is $8,350.83 for all in lier stays of 1-6
days.
An additional amount of $4,000.00/day is payable if the patient
stays longer than the required inlier days.
The additional days is called Outlier days DIAGNOSTIC RELATED
GROUP (ICD 10 CODES ON THE CLAIM)
The formula for the payment calculations is the following.
A. Base Rate x SIW = DRG payment
B. Base Rate x SIW + Additional day calculation = DRG
payment
Calculate the payments for following DRG’S
1- Jack Jones was in the hospital. What does DRG 450 with an SIW
of 4.3270 the pay for 7 days?
2-. Iris Smith DRG 251 with an SIW of 2.3860 the patient was
hospitalized for 16 days
3- DRG 535 with an SIW of 6.3210 and a patient stay of 28 days 4
DRG 473 with an SIW of
4-.3250 and a patient stay of 12 days .
5- DRG 329 with an SIW of 3.7650 and a patient stay of 13
days
6.- DRG 262 with an SIW of 4.3270 the patient was hospitalized
for 6 days. __________________
7-. DRG 451 with an SIW of 4.3860 the patient was hospitalized
for 15 days. _________________
8 -DRG 723 with an SIW of 8.3250 and a patient stay of 5 days
patient expired
9- DRG 143 with an SIW of 5.3250 and a patient stay of 10
days
10- DRG 125 with an SIW of 7.3250 and a patient stay of 9
days
CMS 1500 FORM IS USED TO PRICE/PAY OUT-PATIENT CLAIMS (SAME
DAY)
UB 04 FORM IS USED TO PRICE/PAY IN-PATIENT CLAIMS ( MORE THAN 1
DAY IN THE HOSPITAL)
