The direction of the grain of the wood with respect to the known stresses is also shown at an angle of 0 = 29° to the element. The normal stress ox is 6 MPa and the normal stress Oy is -8 MPa. = Oy Calculate (a) the normal stress perpendicular to the grain and (b) the shear stress parallel to the grain.
