Let 𝑓 : 𝐴 → 𝐵 be a function and 𝐶 ⊂ 𝐴. Prove, or disprove and
salvage: 𝑓 (𝐴 \ 𝐶) = 𝑓 (𝐴) \ 𝑓 (𝐶). Disprove and salvage means that
if the statement is false, then find a counterexample, add a
hypothesis on 𝑓 to make the statement true, and prove the revised
statement.
