PROBLEMS 11-1. 11- 11 11-2. 11-3. 11-4. Determine the critical load for a pinned-end col- umn made of a circular bar of SAE 1020 hot-rolled steel. The diameter of the bar is 20 mm, and its length is 800 mm. Repeat Problem 11-1 with the length of 350 mm. Repeat Problem 11-1 with the bar made of 6061-T6 aluminum instead of steel. Repeat Problem 11-1 with the column ends fixed instead of pinned. Repeat Problem 11-1 with a square steel bar with the same cross-sectional area as the circular bar. For a standard DN 25 steel pipe used as a column, determine the critical load if it is 2.05 m long. The material is similar to SAE 1020 hot-rolled steel. Compute the critical load for each of the four end conditions described in Figure 11-3. 11-5. 1 11-6. Jan
