Measures of Dispersion:
(4) Calculate and report the (a) mean, (b) standard deviation,
and (c) variance in the example below. You should also provide an
interpretation of the standard deviation.
Step 1: calculate the mean.
Step 2: calculate the deviation(difference) from the mean for
each value [x – mean]
Step 3: square each value from the “deviation from the mean”
Step 4: sum the squared values and divide by the number of cases
[variance]
Step 5: Take the square root of the variance [standard
deviation]
Step 6: Interpret your findings Age Deviation from mean
