This table shows the length of plants (in cm) that are treated
differently: Plants in plot A were sprayed with fertilizer twice a
week, while plants in plot B were sprayed with fertilizer only once
a week.
Question 1:
If the degree-of-freedom for the test assuming equal variances
is given by x and the degree-of-freedom for the test assuming
unequal variances is given by y, then :
a. x>y
b. x=y
c. x<y
Question 2:
What is the value of the t-statistics assuming equal population
standard deviations of both sample? (Round your answer to two
decimal places.)
Question 3:
If we assume unequal population standard deviations of both
sample, what is the larger critical value if we want to know
whether average plant length in the two plots are equal? Use alpha
= 5%. (Round your answer to two decimal places.)
Question 4:
Does the data support this statement? "Spraying fertilizer twice
a week is not advised as it hindered plant growth compared to
spraying once a week."
a. True
b. False
