A researcher conducts an independent-measures study examining
how the brain chemical dopamine is related to decision
making. One sample of rats (N = 14), serves as a control group
and receives a placebo that does not affect normal levels
of dopamine. A second sample of rats (N = 13), receives a drug
that lowers brain levels of dopamine. Then the researcher
tests the animals by recording the number of seconds a rat took to
complete a maze. The means and SD for each group are as
follows.
Control rats: 236 +/- 37.25, SD
Drugged rats: 290 +/- 32.33, SD
Calculate the appropriate statistic. If it's significant,
enter this value. If not, enter 0.
