1. Amass of 5 kg of air in a piston-cylinder device is heated from 27 to 107°C by passing current through a resistance heater inside the cylinder. The pressure inside the cylinder is held constant at 275 kPa during the process and the amount of energy transferred to the resistance heater is 0.12 kWh. Using the ideal gas tables as appropriate, (a) sketch the cycle on a P-v diagram, (b) compute the boundary work, in kJ, and (c) the heat gain (or loss), in kJ.
