A newly-designed Pelton bucket is being tested for a jet deflection angle of 170°. A water jet of velocity 20 m/s and area 3 cm2 impinges onto the bucket which is connected to a moving trolley that moves at velocity 15 m/s. Find the force on the bucket. Assume the bucket splits the jet in two equal streams in a horizontal plane. Neglect the weight of the jet, bucket and trolley: neglect frictional and drag forces and assume steady flow. (5)
