Q. Consider laminar flow of air at 20 °C over a flat plate. The plate is positioned parallel to the flow and the free-stream velocity is 20 m/s. A stagnation tube is inserted in the boundary layer at a distance *x' downstream of the leading edge (see Fig. I below). The distance between the centre of the tube and the wall is 2 mm. Using the Blasius velocity profile, estimate 'x' if the tube measures 20 mm of water (gauge). For air at 20 °C, density p=1.2 kg/m' and dynamic viscosity u=1.8x10 kg/m-s.
