Consider a power transistor which dissipates 0.2 W of power in
an environment at 30oC. The transistor is cylindrical, with a
diameter of 5mm and a length of 4mm. Assuming the heat to be
transferred uniformly from all surfaces and the combined convection
and radiation heat transfer coefficient is 12 W.m-2.K-1,
determine;
(a) The amount of electrical energy dissipated as heat by
this transistor during a 24 hour period, in kW.h,
(b) The heat flux on the surface of the transistor, in
W.m-2, and
(c) The surface temperature of the transistor.
