Submittal 3: Determine the power required for heating the building. (April 27) • Assume the building was built to code specifications for the R-values for the walls and roof, and that U-value for the windows is 0.2 • Assume the proper thermal massing and window sizing will reduce your heating requirements by 25% Use a geothermal heating system to provide winter heating. Assume that the building doesn't need cooling. The maximum allowed depth of excavation is 300 ft. and the minimum distance between pipes is 10 ft.
