A W8x15 column is 20 feet long. It is fixed at its top and bottom and braced at its mid-height about the y-y (weak) axis. The bracing is assumed to be pin connected. Column is 1992 steel alloy a. Find the critical load for buckling to occur about the x-x (strong axis). b. Find the critical load for buckling to occur about the y-y (weak axis). C. Find the axial load which will cause the column to yield based on the 1992 steel yield stress (Yield Stress = 60 ksi) 10 ft. 10 ft.
