Column AB in the braced frame is a W14x311. The height of the first floor is ( 20 ) ft. Based on an elastic critical load analysis from a 3-D model of the building, column AB has values of Pcrx = ( 20,700 ) kips for major-axis buckling and Pcry = ( 19,756 ) kips for = = minor-axis buckling. The moments in column AB are negligible. Using the Effective Length Method, determine the available strength Pn using the equations in Chapter E of the Specification for Structural Steel Buildings, Section E3.
